Known for her radiant expression and intense stage presence, German mezzo-soprano
Cora Suvi was recently awarded winner of the international singing competition Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg in 2018.
In 2017-2018 she was part of the ensemble of Kammeroper Köln, where she performed as a soloist and actress all over Germany.
Among other highlights from last year's season are „Donna Elvira“ in A. Geugelins production of Don Giovanni, „Alma“ in the world premiere of „A bad man’s life“ and
Musetta in „La Bohème“ with Mediterranean Opera Studio Sicily.
Cora Suvi is equally at home with operatic,
art song, musical theater repertoire and acting.
She enjoys an experimental approach to opera and theater and loves to explore new concert formats.
She frequently designs and directs her own shows, for example „Everything you can think of is true“ - a performance inspired by Tom Waits and Alice in Wonderland,
or „Babylon Berlin - music from the 20s/30s“ that will premiere in New York this June.
At Opera Frankfurt she was seen in various productions as part of the Vocalensemble and worked as an assistant director for the children’s opera of „Le nozze di Figaro“.
Cora Suviwas awarded scholarships by the Richard Wagner association, the international Summer Academy Mozarteum Salzburg, Academy of Music Munich and the Deutschlandstipendium.
When not on stage, her favorite place in the world, she’s passing on her passion for singing and opera to children and adults.
She is an avid student of meditation, human design and reiki and loves reading poems, learning new languages, teaching german and riding her bike through the streets of Brooklyn.
Cora Suvi received her Bachelor of Music at University of the Arts Bremen, Germany and is currently studying with Prof. Mark Schnaible at Brooklyn College.
